Forest Electric New York installed infrastructure for a new high density wireless network at Citi Field that had the capacity to serve thousands of fans, as well as stadium operations and sales.

Our team performed services around the New York Mets’ home schedule, while still delivering the project on a strict timeframe. The project team worked both day and night, when there wasn’t a game, to install a high capacity wi-fi system.

Our scope of work included the construction of a wi-fi head-end room, which feeds fiber to 26 intermediate data frame (IDF) closets in the stadium. This fiber supports 486 wireless access points, which are spread throughout the stadium to help ensure that every visitor can connect to the network.

Additional services included:

  • Installing 26,000 feet of fiberoptic cable from the head-end room to 26 IDF closets
  • Over 100,000 feet of Cat6 cabling from IDF closets to antennae installed throughout the stadium
  • Custom engineered scaffolding using existing stadium infrastructure to access antenna locations that were mounted on the roof extension of the upper deck

Citi Field is a baseball stadium that is home to the New York Mets.
