Forest NY performed installations and fit-outs on-time and under-budget for this long-terms acute care hospital.

Value Delivered

Forest Electric New York (Forest NY) renovated the Long-Term Acute Care Hospital (LTACH) building at the Henry J. Carter Specialty Hospital and Nursing Facility.

From lighting, device, and specialty systems installations to main distribution frame cabling and risers, Forest NY completed the entire project in just four months. We took special care to deliver patient rooms with the highest-possible quality, to help ensure that all medical equipment would operate as required.

Client Objectives

The client needed to renovate one of its hospital buildings, located at 1879 Madison Avenue.

Solutions

Forest NY installed a new 1,250-kilowatt generator on the roof of the LTACH building, as well as associated risers and cables running from the cellar to the rooftop switchgear.

We also replaced the building’s original motor control center, thereby powering the mechanical equipment with new switchgear and starters.

Additionally, our team provided and installed an interior fit-out of the Skilled Nursing Facility, featuring:

  • Lighting and dimming systems
  • Fire alarm systems
  • Hospital specialty systems, including:
    • Nurse’s call
    • Rescue assistance
    • Public address
    • Radiation detection

Additionally, we installed approximately 1.5 million feet of Cat6 cable to over 850 stations throughout all ten floors. We also installed single- and multimode fiber risers from the main distribution frames in both buildings to each telecommunications room.

Finally, our team furnished and installed complete security and audiovisual (AV) systems, featuring:

  • Cameras, card readers, and locks
  • A patient wandering management system
  • Temperature monitoring
  • Patient and non-patient televisions
  • AV racks and associated speaker systems
  • Wireless clocks throughout both buildings
  • A complete coaxial cable system
