Value Delivered
Forest Electric New York (Forest NY) furnished and installed telecommunication systems, data center infrastructure, lighting systems, and cabling for the Miles and Shirley Fireman Hall reconstruction project.
Our systems helped to power 16 floors, including 80 smart classrooms and computer laboratories, a fine arts center and public café, as well as offices, library spaces, music ensemble rooms, and a rooftop conference center.
Client Objectives
The Borough of Manhattan Community College rebuilt Fiterman Hall after it was irreparably damaged on September 11.
Solutions
Forest NY furnished and installed all voice and data systems, including horizontal cabling and riser infrastructure.
Our team installed special-effect lighting on the north- and south-facing spiral staircases. Time-clocks tie the entire building into a digital lighting control system that helps minimize energy costs.
We also built out the fifth-floor data center with associated cabling. Throughout the facility, we provided data and telecommunications infrastructure, including:
- Approximately 1 million feet of Cat6 cabling
- 2,000 feet of ten-gigabyte multimode fiber between floors and within the main distribution frame
- 25 compressor-to-processor-interface (CPI) equipment cabinets
- 30 CPI equipment racks
- 6,000 feet of CPI ladder rack
