NYC Rapid Repairs Program, FAR ROCKAWAY, QUEENS
To restore electrical service to the homes affected by Hurricane Sandy.
Utilizing over 2,300 contractors, including Forest Electric, the Rapid Repairs Program restored power, heat, lighting and hot water to over 20,000 residential units in just 5 months. In addition the team installed safe wiring for boilers and furnaces and prompt installation of electrical services.
SCOPE OF SERVICES
On October 29, 2012, Hurricane Sandy damaged thousands of homes in the NYC area. Forest Electric was called upon to quickly mobilize and provide electrical repair work in Far Rockaway, Queens and Staten Island. Forest Electric was chosen from many electrical contractors to bring power, lighting and heat to the main operations control center. In addition, Forest worked to restore electricity to distraught homeowners in Queens and Staten Island.
A major disaster of this magnitude required an extraordinary effort from the entire Forest Electric team. Electricians, project managers, superintendents and warehouse personnel worked long hours to ensure displaced residents could safely return home as quickly as possible. Forest worked seamlessly with city agencies, utilities and other contractors
to make the recovery process as smooth as possible.
The NYC Rapid Repairs Program was an initiative funded by the government and the Federal Emergency Management Agency that employed contractors to repair the thousands of homes damaged by Hurricane Sandy in the New York City area.
