Jefferies, NEW YORK, NY
Global investment banking firm Jefferies was renovating nine floors at their building located at 520 Madison Avenue. Jefferies needed electrical work completed for new offices and trading floors, a new data center, and a new generator room.
Forest Electric was able to install the UPS and associated data center equipment ahead of a very demanding schedule. This allowed Jefferies to seamlessly incorporate the new computer room infrastructure with their current trading operations. The standby generator ensures power is always available to keep Jefferies’ operation intact.
SCOPE OF SERVICES
Forest performed the electrical installation of one 1500kW diesel generator with duct mounted load banks and remote radiator. Forest’s responsibilities included the rigging of this equipment from the street level through the side of the building at the 14th floor. Other equipment wired by Forest Electric included five automatic transfer switches, two 500kW UPS systems, paralleling switchgear, two power distribution units, RX panels and a chiller plant.
The overall project was done in several phases so that Jefferies’ personnel could continue their financial trading activities while the space was being renovated. Since the data center was built and put online during the first phase of construction, all subsequent MDF and IDF room connections had to be made into the “now-live” data center. There was quite a bit of planning and coordination required to ensure that no facet of the trading operation was disrupted during these tie-ins. Jefferies is an investment bank and securities firm serving institutional, corporate, and government investors.
